I’ve worked both fast food and retail. I was never a cashier/drive through in either because I don’t like customer service in general. Both are really easy places to get along with co workers because they’re a ‘mixing pot’ type of job, having lots of people from different backgrounds/ages. The hardest part for me at a retail job would be answering people’s questions on the sales floor. They can be quite rude if they’re in a rush or just depending on the place you work, just rude in general. The hardest part for me at a fast food job was being stuck taking a customers order because there was no one else around. I’m not sure if it’ll help, but what helps me power through some tough blocking moments or if i think i may struggle on a word at work is switching on a “customer service persona”. It helps me detach my words from my overthinking brain and just get them out.
