**Conclusions of the 2020 research**: All participants acknowledged that their stuttering changed based on context or time, reinforcing long-standing findings. Encouraged as a promising method to help clients externalize and reframe their experiences, explore the role of societal expectations, and deconstruct internalized stigma. Reconceptualize previous definitions by linking them to internal processes and subjective meaning, not just observable behaviors. This reinforces a paradigm shift from a behavior-centric, pathology-focused model to a holistic, person-centered, and context-aware approach.
