I mean some people try to get rid of it without succes, I went to 3 logopedists over a period of 5 years before just deciding to accept it, and I know from talking to other stutters that there are: 1. Quite a lot in a simular position. 2. Quite a lot that have not gone to Therapy expecting it to be a definitive cure or something. What also didn't help is that the 2nd logopedist I went to had a completely different opinion/method than the 2 other ones had, which also made me doubt a bit if they actually knew what the problem was or if it was just supposed to be some kind of a placebo. Now let's imagine someone you are having a conversation with notices that you are stuttering and says something like "why don't you just take speech therapy lol", it can be very frustrating to hear when you have spent 3 hours a week (including commuting) for almost half a decade, without any major progress, to hear. I know that speech therapy has helped a lot of people get over a stutter, so I don't think it's a bad thing, but the narrative of "if you REALLY try anyone can get over a stutter" just simply is not true for everyone. which, considering I had speech therapy from 12-17 years old, because it's free as a minor where I live, I think this would be even more frustrating if you had to pay 80 bucks per session, without any result. Then you also have people that are just time/motivation/financial wise not able to take speech therapy, for these people I think this might be just as if not more frustrating when people judge them on "not trying"
