I took the course about 15 years ago. In hindsight, the program was not a good fit for me. The idea is quite simple: Focus extremely on breathing (and visualising); learn what you want to say word for word, speak when you know you CAN speak (i.e; don't stutter) and carry on to the next sentence. The idea behind this is that you are control of your diaphragma. It sounds hard, and it is hard. It can take >10 seconds to say one short sentence and sounding like a robot. However, i think it can work altough i don't support the theory behind it. My experience is that this, however temporary way of speaking, is possible harder than stuttering. As a mild stutter, in a blocking way, extreme control and slow and robotic speech seems like a step back from mild stuttering. Anxiety unfolds when you want to speak. People look at you as if you lost your mind, but all for the good cause, of course. In short; I think it can work. It is not because you are in control of your diaphragm. It is because of the focus on breathing, you are distracted from the fear of stuttering and therefore don't stutter. For example; extreme focus on not blinking should arguably result in also not stuttering. it is not about controlling your diagphragm, it is about not fearing stuttering AND support (+ believing!) that you can speak without stuttering. Important to mention 1); the program is extreme strict; no stuttering allowed, always talk by learning you sentence, focus, speak untill you don't make any stuttering 'errors'. If you fail; it is YOUR fault en should work harder. I tryed for over a year, resultated in higher anxiety (stuttering is bad printed in the brain); even dreamed about breathing. After a year i quit. It did FOR ME more harm than good. 2) this is 15 years ago. Possible some of the course elements have changed. tl;dr hard course, talk like a robot for a while. not for everyone, could work in some cases i think. People who covert stutter maybe have an even harder time with this course.
