Good on you for seeking advice on how to understand and deal with a stutterer. All I can say is give them time. Don’t look at them funny or judgemental. Maintain eye contact even though you might feel uncomfortable. Focus on the context of what they’re saying, not how they are saying it. Most of all, be compassionate. It’s extremely uncomfortable and stressful for a stutterer, let alone going on a first day with a stranger. He’s very strong willed to put himself out there despite this impediment.
