Feel like I lost out on a great job opportunity because I stutter

Feel like I lost out on a great job opportunity because I stutter So a little background. I’ve had a stutter/block since I was 4. I’ve come a long way and can hide it pretty damn well these days. The only thing that makes it bad are phone conversations. So go back to 8 years ago. In college we had a class where we had a recruitment agency come in and give tips for resumes and interviews. I asked him, “I have a speech problem, should I be up front with that, or wait until after I’ve received the job?” The guy said as messed up as it sounds, do it after. So fast forward to a few weeks ago. I’m a live sound engineer that does conferences, concerts, etc... I constantly work with big time corporations and famous bands, presidents, and athletes. I applied to Netflix to run sound for their events. We did a preliminary phone call and I crushed it. They already started talking about salary pay and day to day items. Then when the final interview came, I was a little nervous so I started stuttering a bit. I told the guy, “hey just letting you know I have a speech impediment, so if I have a hard time getting some words out that is why. It doesn’t impact my work though so don’t worry.” Annoyingly, my speech got worse during the interview, probably because I knew that he already knew so I wasn’t trying to treat speech like life or death. Plus being on the phone makes my speech worse. I get a follow up email that said something like this. Although we find your background to be very strong, we don’t think you’re right for this position. These people were raving about me, and then as soon as I brought it up, it’s like I got outcasted. I should’ve kept the advice I got during the seminar. Anyone else with similar experiences? Good or bad?
