Smile, make eye contact, focus on non-verbal cues and body language. The listener will mirror your reaction to your stutter. If you appear uncomfortable, the listener will appear uncomfortable. But if you carry yourself with confidence, and focus on the content of the conversation and not the stutter, it will alleviate the sense of awkwardness. BTW- this is still something I’m working on. It’s much easier with my girlfriend and close friends, but it’s a continuous journey.
