My mother stutters although it's very mild and you would rarely notice. I don't have any emotional trauma or anything like that. It just started when I was 4 or 5 years old. I never got any treatment and still stutter to this day (I'm 27 now). It's not as bad as when I was a teenager however it's still severe and affects my daily life. It seems worse when I'm nervous but tends to be random. Saying specific things like my name, address, phone number or reading out loud and speaking on the phone is the hardest. Anything where I analyze what I'm about to say and I will start blocking. I don't stutter as much when talking to people I know or close family and friends, most likely as I'm less nervous and feel comfortable around them.
