Speech therapy update 21M here. I am posting this just to update you all about my first speech therapy session. I have been having speech blocks since I was a teenager. It used to be an on-off thing but it affected the quality of my life. I made up my mind to seek professional help to improve myself. The speech therapist gave me some breathing exercises to do. They told me to do the following things for a week before my next session: 1) Keep my mouth closed and breathe through my nose. Due to my deviated nasal septum I used to have my nose blocked (I got the surgery done recently). According to them, I developed this habit of keeping my mouth slightly open and breathe through it as well which causes a block while speaking. 2) Breathing exercise According to them I developed a reverse breathing habit. In this exercise I have to inhale through my nose and inflate my stomach as I inhale (I was doing the reverse of that). 3) Progressive relaxation. This is mainly to help me with my stress and anxiety.
