Long story short, one of the reasons I became a teacher was to confront one of my biggest fears head on. Student teaching was tough, as I was so unsure of myself. I distinctly remember coreading a book with my cooperating teacher to a group of second graders. When it came my turn to read I had a major block and couldn't say anything; the cooperating teacher looked at me funny. At this point in my life, several years ago, I still was ashamed to admit to anyone that I had a stutter. Now, not so much. Been teaching history several years now.
