Yes, even with my relatively mild stutter the internalized lifelong stuttering has caused my stigma to remain. Even at At the age of 77f, I'm still embarrassed by not being totally fluent. Its a thing about not being ‘perfect’ and being judged for it. I had a wonderful 54-year marriage to a professional man who always proudly presented me socially, two amazing children, and 5 grandsons who don't stutter yet its not even enough for me. I still lament not being fluent.
