You don't need to necessarily talk about it before he knows you love and support him. Once you don't look irritated by it, don't make funny faces, don't try to rush him when he is speaking etc. He knows you got his back. Opening up and talking about our stutter can be awkward for a lot of us. So I will say let sleeping dogs lie.
