It’s so infuriating that folks seem unable to comprehend how much mental work goes into fluent speech when fluency isn’t natural. The on the go thinking and work required for fluent sounding speech in unscripted debates is off the charts! To see people failing to comprehend that was very saddening. Fingers crossed! If it’s something like an interview I’ll usually mention my stutter (cause mine is from a brain injury, something specifically covered under ADA and I like to make it clear that I’m aware of my rights to not have my speech fluency used against me in assessing my skills), but the fact that stutters are not addressed more clearly shows how little the average person knows or cares ti understand how disfluency disorders work.
