He stuttered on about 30% of his words. I did conventional speech therapy with him for a while but honestly that wasn’t what I needed then. I had an enormous amount of shame about stuttering. It affecting my professional and personal life. The real breakthrough we had was when we started talking about shame. It turned into more normal talk therapy centered around all the baggage that stuttering can lead to. This was the part of speech therapy that worked for me.
