>*" I found that lexapro is known to REDUCE DOPAMINE"* In my opinion, besides the obvious side-effects of medication, one could argue that medication in order to reduce our dopamine mechanics leads to an over-relience on medication and can turn into a coping mechanism. This falls under 'reassurance-seeking' and will only make the 'problem' more real in your mind. For example, the more you rely on reassurance-seeking, the more you will see anticipatory fear as real and a problem the next time you speak. Our dopamine punishment system will then 'blame this anticipatory fear' - to stop breathing out or stop moving your tongue resulting in a speech block. Surprisingly, even if your dopamine system applies a reward system like 'coping with stuttering' or desensitizing, it will still make the 'problem' more real in our mind, because we didn't learn to weaken the association between predicted negative outcome and our decision-making (ability to choose) to move our tongue or breathe out during a speech block. So, in that vein medication works like an avoidance behavior, whereby we avoid 'awareness of anticipatory fear' by temporarily relieving ourselves from this fear
