Sometimes stuttering helps I'm a summer research intern at a popular hospital with about 140 other undergraduates. Yesterday me and 5 other students got an email saying to come to a meeting today to set up a account for a grant. We had no idea what the grant was. I went to the meeting today and the person in charge said that NIH funded a grant that was given to us because we are URM in research. I asked what URM was and she said "underrepresented minority". Since I'm a white guy I asked why I got it and she said because I have a stutter, which according to NIH is a disability. So now NIH is paying for my housing and for half of my stipend, which is about $5,000. Honestly, idk how I feel about it because I wouldn't count my stutter as a disability, but I'll take free money.
