I understand what you’re saying, but saying that “great people overcome adversity” does kind of imply that those who can’t or choose not to are the opposite. When people stop treating me in a way that shows they very much are against my disfluency, I’ll believe you when you say that they aren’t. What’s made things easier for me is accepting my stutter, I barely acknowledge it as negative at all nowadays. You say I have discomfort in my fluency, but I get the same impression from you.
