This drug and drugs like it are dangerous. Every time you take it as needed, esp without Dr guidance, you put yourself at risk. There are side effects you may not even notice until they become a problem. My top advice about almost any subject is that Benzodiazapines are dangerous. It may just be making you worry less about your fluency but I promise it's a crutch. Even with a RX and a doctor this drug diverted my life and nearly killed me. Google Xanax seizure threshold, it's a horrible way to find out and I wouldn't want it to happen to anyone . Once you develop a tolerance it's as dangerous as alcohol dependency to get clean. And drs are reluctant to take people off of it. I have never stopped having anxiety or any symptom Drs tried to treat with SSRIs. The only thing that works for me is enduring, 100mg+ CBD (safe, tested medical grade) for social situations. Oh and weed. I'm sure I smoke a lot! But it's never hurt me like those little .25, .5 and 1mg pills did. Withdrawal seizures can happen to anyone. And: once when someone took one of my pills and didn't tell me, to treat a depressive weekend... He woke up Monday 48hrs after taking the 1mg and decided to try to end it with Tylenol. He just had tunnel vision and took action. Luckily he is fine but only told me years later that it's the reason he never touched benzos again. He's done other things that you'd think would have been more harmful and this ONE scared him. Good luck, it is for sure hard to exist with stutter and panic but my advice is forget these pills exist. They're only good for heavily sedating patients, preparing for a scary medical procedure or legit epilepsy. Because they treat epilepsy but only while patients take it. It really yo-yos your seizure threshold especially "as needed" or just taking them when you get them.
