I kind of agree with your theory. Even if I'm fine with my stuttering, there's always a subconscious desire not to stutter. I've been friends with my friends for years, and some of them teased me a couple of times when we were kids, they don't do it anymore. But because of that I can never feel the same level of comfort with people who aren't family
