Female stutterer here. Personally, I think there may be more women stutterers than people realize, but that women are better at 'covert' stuttering, and therefore don't necessarily go to speech therapy (I never did, though I found my stutter agonizing in certain situations in high school). Offhand I can think of several women I've met who I could tell had stutters, but when I asked my husband later, he hadn't noticed anything. So, you know...we're out there, we're just maybe more covert. Like ninjas.
