Dr. Bodenhamer believes that our articulators freeze because of a panic response, just like stage freight. I agree with him. What is your opinion? Additionally, I think there are also other reasons. For example, some stutterers learned to associate some body sensations to 'freezing articulators' without the panic so basically, they are wired to do this freeze mechanism in their motor functions because they perceive this is associated in their body sensations. Another reason could be that some stutterers have stuttered so many times that he just gave up one day to unfreeze and he just accepts (without changing) this freeze response and in fact, as a coping mechanism, gives up trying helpful ways. Because at the time, he thought this was for the best for his own health or for being okay with his own thinking pattern without necessarily experiencing panic.
