I got my stutter at 16. I got my first job at 18 where a coworker told me that she would “punch the stutter out of me” and my manager said that “stuttering makes you sound stupid”. My 2nd job that I got in a nursing home, that changed everything. The managers and nurses and my coworkers didn’t say anything. The residents were understanding. And before I knew it, as soon as I got my stride, I still stuttered but not nearly as bad. I couldn’t get a sentence out before, now you can barely tell. I’m 22 now. This may sound counter intuitive, but talking more is what made my stutter better than it was before. Apply for jobs, and if it makes you feel better about it, talk to your interviewer during your interview about it. But as long as you know what you’re doing or are willing to learn, they really shouldn’t care. Especially in minimum wage jobs. You can’t avoid getting a job forever, and I highly believe that getting one early on can help with someone’s stutter. And yes, no matter where you work, you will deal with a**hole customers/clients/coworkers. That’s true from retail to the hospital. Just try it and give it your best shot
