I read a similar theory [here](http://www.stuttering-theory.eu/index.html): * Theory of the author: he thinks that stuttering is caused by poor processing and integration of auditory feedback, and the cause for this is too little attention to one’s voice during speech (several behavioral and fMRI studies showed htat receptive speech processing is very limited without attention to the speech signal – and this might be also true for the processing of the auditory feedback of one’s speech) * Conclusion from the author: * Speak in a firm and resonant voice, if possible, and listen to your voice! Let pauses between clauses and units of meaning – this reduces the speech planning demands, so that you have more attention left for listening to your voice * Don't think of voluntary motor control, don't think of rhythm * Instead of focusing on voluntary motor control, focus on the sensory feedback (auditory and tactile), not on motor control [Here](https://www.reddit.com/r/Stutter/comments/14wwyid/tips_to_improve_stuttering_from_the_research/) I summarized/reviewed a research study on "*Auditory rhythm discrimination in adults who stutter: An fMRI study*" (2023): Synchronize with an internal timing cue, enhance your internal timing representation, estimate the rhythm of the events itself - rather than the time between events.
