My brothers stutter is more severe than mine but we have discussed stuttering so much so I feel as if I could answer these questions easily for him. Dating with his severe stutter had never been an issue. He always had a girl hanging on his arm growing up. 1. He knows that he cannot get rid of his stutter, therefore he would date as he pleases. 2. He has never lied or avoided the subject of his stutter. Something he started to own at a very young age. He got bullied all the time for it. But still had a ton of friends and girls were always still interested in him. 3. He definitely doesn’t like to go out and do things alone. He finds comfort in having someone with him in case his stutter and tics get out of hand. But he obviously has self esteem issues from stuttering. I don’t know a single person who stutters who doesn’t have self esteem issues. Everyone has them! 4. He never felt this way. Plus there was no point to him “disclosing” his stutter because you caught onto it about 5 words into the conversation. 5. My brother only dated people he was friends with. Never a strike up a conversation at the bar type of deal.
