a few reasons: 1. stutterers who say they're not disabled usually associate "being disabled" with "being inferior as a person", whether consciously or subconsciously 2. stuttering is probably the single most ridiculed disability. acknowledging that it is a disability and not just a trait would make people feel worse about laughing at it 3. genuine lack of knowledge about stuttering or disabilities in general probably more reasons but those are the big ones that I can think of. What protections would you need for a stutter? I've had accomodations made at my university because I'm registered with my school's disability office (extra time for presentations and things like that)
