You stutter is a neurological condition… you can’t avoid that. What we do know is that mental health can impact the frequency and severity significantly. It can make growing beyond the stutter impossible. Before you try speech therapy, you need to get your head right. I’d recommend two things. Meditation and mental health therapy. There are meditation tips you can find online. Do it every day. Even laying in bed at night is a great time do it. Focus on your breathing, flex and relax all the muscles from your head to your toes, have meditative music playing. Every. Day. I’m serious. Every day. Clear your mind and focus on breathing. When you sense your mind wander, which it will, bring it back to the breathing. Don’t stop until you fall asleep. Try to imagine your breathing as dolphins moving up and down in the ocean. Or wind blowing across grass. Be consistent because you can use that thought of the dolphins or the grass to relax and soften you as you get better at meditating. Next… Ask your parents to find someone you can talk to. Insurance covers it and it will help. I promise. A therapist I’m 45 and I’m not ‘cured’ of my stutter, but it’s very manageable. At your age, it was not. I completely understand what your going through. Most of us do. You have it in you to make your stutter manageable,
