Probably the best positive side is when you overcome it you can be proud of your achievement. It always amazes me how most of the stuttering organizations who are run by people who don't stutter try to tell us "its ok to stutter and its just the way we speak" They have no idea of the anguish and self hatred some of us who stutter have when we cannot even say our names. Most fluent people don't care and are sympathetic.
