Using a voice activated device to practice speaking smoothly.

Using a voice activated device to practice speaking smoothly. Just had a small epiphany. Using voice activated tech is a super cool way to practice smooth speech techniques. I have a google home and often get music or podcasts going with it and I find myself stuttering a decent amount using certain keywords necessary to navigate it. And what's beautiful is you can't adjust the words, you can't replace it with a word that you can say smoother. You have to use the words it knows. This means you have to get through those tough words and that is a prime time to use any healthy techniques you may have. And for the most part you are alone since it's in your home! Maybe you have roommates or something but....it's better than having to practice in public! In middle school I developed a secondary characteristic (some external thing I do when I stutter) of sometimes jerking my head when I stutter. And even now (25 years old) I still have to grapple with that. With my google home I can practice all the techniques I have alone, in my own home, with absolutely zero pressure. I'm pretty sure a lot of phones have this feature too! "ok google, play my spotify playlist called [blank]" has 2 pretty tough sounds for me, but I can work on practicing with a lot of the usual external factors (in public, urgency to respond, etc) removed! Just sorta nifty, thought I'd share.
