When I got my job as an EE, manager took out the team for a lunch meet and greet. Obviously the talking point was the new hire. I was anxious knowing that I was about to do a lot of talking. I was gonna try to put my best foot forward. I was about 75% fluent with some bad blocks sprinkled in. When there was a break in the banter I told them that, "I just wanna let y'all know that as you may already have heard, I have a speech impediment so just be patient with me from time to time. I swear I know what I'm talking about half the time." They had a good chuckle at my attempt at a joke. They were very understanding and put me at ease with everything. Telling me that, "We don't care about that man. Hell, some of us don't even know what we're talking about most of the time AND we don't stutter." It was a good lunch. Congrats bud and happy engineering :)
