I feel the same way, social anxiety definitely increases my stutter. Yesterday, I was hanging out with a group of friends that I was socially comfortable with, and I didn’t stutter. When I’m around new people though, I become anxious, especially because I stutter on my name so I worry about how I’m going to introduce myself to them. I have faith that fluency is possible though. I have had moments in the past where I have said my name without stuttering and even had fluent interviews and long presentations. In each of these situations, I was socially comfortable and so I am hopeful that if I work on my social anxiety and confidence, I can improve my fluency.
