Any cures to stuttering?

Any cures to stuttering? Ever since middle school I’ve started to stutter. Every time I stuttered around my dad he would think it’s something wrong with my tonsils and would tell me to go the doctors. I am 18 now with a bad case of stuttering. Every time I try to talk to my family members I can’t even speak properly and I usually have to say the same sentence twice in order for them to understand. Recently I was in a call with my professor and while we were talking I tried saying the word assignment and I couldn’t. I was really disappointed in myself and I was wondering if anyone has any information on how I could overcome stuttering.
