I don't stutter, but my daughter does. Of course I'm fond of her, I love everything about her including her stutter. I'm very hopeful that one day she meets someone to spend her life with that loves her wholly and completely, and not IN SPITE OF her stutter. I think it is possible to find a stutter cute or endearing, and not in a gross condescending fashion. It's just a part of them, you love them, and therefore their stutter. I love the way she talks. I think it's very cute at times, although I don't voice this. I do my best to avoid the subject of her stutter (unless it is necessary) because she is not comfortable talking about it yet. I hope that changes in the future. Definitely let them know if this is not comfortable for you. Wether they mean it sincerely or not, your feelings matter most on the subject. To summarize though, I don't think everyone that says that is being a jerk, or condescending. I can see why you might like or dislike it though.
