To answer your question though. IMO it’s a learned response triggered from trauma. The years of being anxious about your stutter just builds up and you have these involuntary reactions (blocks) to situations like speaking in front of people you just met or what have you. The only cure really is to undo the trauma by being OK with stuttering and getting use to it.
