Has anyone experienced any improvements in their speech with Asenapine (Saphris)/Propranolol? **My psychiatrist has recommended Asenapine, a dopamine antagonist for my stutter.** **However, I want to know more before committing to anything.** Link to someone who benefitted from these medications: [https://www.reddit.com/r/Stutter/comments/5ci26k/saphris\_and\_propanolol\_helped\_me\_achieve\_near/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Stutter/comments/5ci26k/saphris_and_propanolol_helped_me_achieve_near/) Post: *I've been working with a psychiatrist to try to reduce my stuttering through medication. The reason it is a psychiatrist and not a regular physician is because the same drugs that target excessive dopamine in the brain (thought to be the cause of stuttering) are used for mental disorders. I am currently on saphris and propanolol and I've managed to achieve near fluency at times. My "bad days" are now nearly on par with my previous "good days". I just thought that I would share my experience. The side effects were at first quite harsh and made me stutter even more, but once my body adapted I noticed quite a difference. I currently experience no side effects other than occasional drowsiness.* *I'm linking below a study done by Dr. Gerald Maguire (a stutterer himself) on stuttering and Saphris.* [*http://www.ocregister.com/articles/maguire-273937-figure-stutter.html*](http://www.ocregister.com/articles/maguire-273937-figure-stutter.html) *EDIT: Here's are two blogs with anecdotal information about stuttering and medications. I really do encourage all of you to look into medications as stuttering is thought to be a neurological disorder.* [*http://medsforstuttering.blogspot.com/*](http://medsforstuttering.blogspot.com/) [*https://stutteringmedication.wordpress.com/*](https://stutteringmedication.wordpress.com/)
