My mother had a pretty severe stammer. Growing up with it I can honestly say it doesn't phase me in the least when I meet somebody who has a stammer. Not that I don't notice, obviously but it was such a part of life to hear her talking that way, it's kinda nothing to me to hear it. One of the sad things about it was that with people she knew very well, the stuttering diminished significantly and I always felt bad for her when she met someone new or the situation was a bit stressful and it went into overdrive. It obviously didn't bother my dad either as he got together with her all the same.
