Absolutely not my experience. My stutter was so mild through most of high school that most of my teachers didn't know I had it (and I was a vocal, know-it-all kind of kid), so there was no "negative feedback" or "mentality" to let go of. It returned with such a vengeance in early adulthood that I had a friend ready to order for me at restaurants in case I couldn't say my own order. I'm sure there were triggers that caused its return but it definitely wasn't a "feedback loop" or my "mentality". /rant
