Hey man I’ve been where you are. Few things I did to help: 1) you don’t owe anyone fluency. You need to continuously tell yourself this 2) mastering the art of not giving a fuck. Not in the sense of not caring about anything, but if you’re in public and stutter there needs to be a voice in your head saying to brush it off, not a voice telling you to feel ashamed. These are hard ideas to convince yourself of. However, they have a lot of power if you consistently focus on them. Your inner voice is more important than your outer voice and can give you confidence. I used to get really ashamed and extremely anxious when I had to speak publicly when I was your age. I’m in my mid thirties now, still stutter, but don’t even care. No issues speaking publicly, during work meetings, ordering food, dates… all the scenarios that used to get me anxious and down about myself are no longer an issue and I really attribute that to changing the way I think about my stutter with my two main points above.
