I honestly don't know how to help. Although I can tell you one simple thing: Don't be a dick to him. When in moments of anger, don't make fun of his stutter. Just don't mock him for having a stutter or push him too hard. My mom did that to me and my younger brother. It didn't turn out very well. Hopefully you guys figure it out, good luck. Bless you for taking care of your child.
