I’ve had a job working with kids with emotional problems where I took them into the community to “practice skills”. A few kids straight up mocked me (did an exaggerated, snarky repeat). One kid even threatened to pretend I kidnapped him, yell out for police, saying “you can’t even talk to explain who you really are!!” So I get it. Also, due to some very hard work, I’ve been over 90% fluent for over a year. It’s definitely possible if you are willing to do the work
