Has anyone else gotten weird treatment when checking out or ordering something?

Has anyone else gotten weird treatment when checking out or ordering something? This happened to me while i was on a field trip with my class. We had just finished for the day and decided to go eat. It was really busy and loud which threw off my focus a bit. When it was my turn i tried my best to convey to the cashier what i wanted but couldn’t. She then grabs my hand that was on the counter and keeps telling me “it’s okay baby. you’re doing great” after each attempted sentence. While i realize she was just trying to make a nice gesture, no one has ever tried to assure me in that way. It just made me feel really weird for some reason.
