I had meningitis at the age of 4. I started stuttering during that time. It didn't last for too long, and, if I remember correctly, it was mainly repetitions. But then at the age of 13 (nearly 14) I developed severe stutter, with long blocks. From the age of 16 it gradually became better. I still stutter, but not very often. Though the fear of it is still very strong. So, even that I believe that meningitis had something to do with it, I think that hormonal changes during puberty made my stutter much worse.
