I used to have long silent blocks, multiple in a sentence, when talking to anyone - but get perfectly fluent the moment I was alone. Also, the moment I stopped hiding my stutter and talked about it, (which usually happened as I was breaking down explaining how upsetting it was) I’d get perfectly fluent. Over a year ago, I realized that if I made eye contact when talking, my blocks would go away. With a few other changes (occasional voluntary repetitions, speaking on an exhale), I’ve been over 90% fluent for over a year. I’ve heard many others with similar stories. What else do you think is causing the cause of the blocks? (Bc I still have minor repetitions, but I don’t even notice them). I’m pretty sure maybe we have an organic/biological/structural difference that leads to more repetitions.
