This should be higher up. The amount of support this sub gives is genuinely heartwarming, but I don't see enough responses on this post recommending professional help. I know it's not attainable to everyone, but if OP goes to school there should hopefully be resources available to them to use. 'Regular' therapy is also very helpful, btw. **This is the most reliable way to learn to live with your stutter.** In my experience the more comfortable I am with myself, the more confident I am, the less I stutter. OP, you said the career you want to pursue involves a lot of talking. If it's something that you enjoy and can spend hours digging into and becoming proficient at, you *will* find a job with people who treat you with respect and let you have the freedom to stutter as you may. There will be days where people don't believe you when you tell them you have a stutter. Then there will be those days where your stutter will. not. leave. you. alone. Those days *really* suck. If you're armed with the tools and skills from speech therapy, you'll have a better idea of what to do in those situations. Maybe you can talk with your uncle who stutters about it if you're comfortable. He may have some sage advice!
