It really sets me off too because it's basically them saying "I used to stutter, but I got over it, and you should too." It's generally a horrible thing to say to someone who stutters because it makes them feel like they're doing something wrong if they aren't able to overcome their stutter by the time they turn 18, when in reality, they're not doing anything wrong.
