I think he’s talking about the fear and anxiety because of the stutter. Of course he feels this way. Probably every stutterer felt this way. Because OP is right, communication is KEY. And it probably isn’t only himself, it’s the people around him too. I heard plenty of stories of stutterers getting denied jobs because of it. And the stereotype that stutterers are dumb affects him too. And yes he can talk but because of it, it can affect him since he can’t communicate like others. It isn’t an “excuse”, it’s a mental battle he’s going through. There’s a reason why it’s called a handicap. Of course he’s going to feel down on himself, especially if he’s been bullied, teased, mocked because of it or even told he won’t become something because of it. Do you know what that does to a person? Just because you know how to get rich doesn’t mean it will work for everyone. If he wants to get into something like business it involves presentations, meetings, interviews which all require communication, and a stutter can affect all of that. It isn’t only him stopping himself, it’s society too. And you can’t he he’s unwilling to do so. He is probably trying. People who don’t stutter don’t understand the mental battle. He’s probably going though that. Every experience is different, every battle is different, everybody is different.
