There’s a very interesting point to be made about stuttering in different situations. For me, when I am comfortable with certain people, e.g my family, some friends and my stuttering community, I stutter a lot because I am afforded the time and space to talk. I am comfortable enough to be authentic without fear. In other situations like first dates (though I’ve only been on one) or meeting new people or at work, you never know how people will react or if they will give you the time to talk. I find if I’m a little confident or sure of myself I don’t stutter/stutter less. I guess another coping mechanism coming into play and obviously I can’t control my stutter, but this is what I find happens.
