This is not my contention at all. I am a stutterer and 'feel' my friends talk over me all the time without them acknowledging what I said, but it isn't true that they're not listening just because I stutter they don't 'listen' because there is more than 2 of us which often leads the conservation to exactly how you described, people talking over each other and subsequently feeling 'they are not listening' but it isn't the case. To think that people won't listen to you because of a minor speech impediment is a cognitive distortion and should viewed as such. Don't make your stutter become a scapegoat for your problems because trust me it isn't. If you overcame stuttering 100 more problems would come your way. There is actually a philosophy that says 'what's the point of fixing one problem if there are 100 more', that is exactly life in my opinion.
