I did speech therapy for the first time as a kid. I don't remember much of it other than that I didn't like it (according to my parents). I tried speech therapy again in my 20s and saw someone on private practice. She was great! It was a combination of techniques to manage my stuttering but also dealing with the mental health issues involved - shame, fear, avoidance, etc.
