My stuttering is on and off. Anyone know the cause?

My stuttering is on and off. Anyone know the cause? My stuttering started about 4 years ago where I started stuttering harder and harder but at one point it gradually vanished (Lasted for about a year). Now again, I started stuttering really hard at times. Any ideas why?
