OOF. Well, my stuttering really started to be in the spotlight when I turned 14. Strangely enough I wasn’t mocked for it until I turned 18. It was mostly just an internal struggle. I hesitated to raise my hand in class and lectures and when I did, obviously I was anxious af. Giving presentations (I used to love giving presentations, but then it became a burden). I wanted to join drama class, I did and that was HELL. It kinda crushed a dream I had. Luckily, I’m talented in singing so I had that outlet to express mysel more fluently and confidently. Learning how to navigate society and socializing with a stutter is without feeling like you have to micro manage a conversation and figuring out what your boundaries and needs are and if they’re too much or acceptable is complex. I’m still learning.
